A huge welcome to Galilee class!
My name is Mrs Ralston and accompanying me in Year 2 are Mrs Lanaway and Mrs Van Dooren.
During Year 2 your children will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of different topics. We aim to do this through practical activities; written activities as well as some more play based learning. We take the fabulous building blocks which were put in place in Reception and Year 1 and use these to help the children develop their knowledge and understanding and help to prepare them for more formal lessons. We will continue to use Seesaw which is an online learning journal to keep you up to date with our learning and achievements. We will keep you informed about what we are currently learning and how you can help at home.
The topics we are going to cover are:
|Topic||Castles||All Around The World||Street Detectives|
Signs and Symbols
|Spread the Word
|Science||Materials||Living things and their habitats
Animals including humans
If you’re looking to ways to support your child the following websites will be helpful:
There will be parents’ evenings in the Autumn and Spring terms. In the Summer term, parents’ will receive a written report.
The children can collect house points for effort, work and behaviour. Each half term, the house with the most house points will have a non-uniform day.
On your child’s birthday, we ask that they do not bring sweets for their friends, but if they would like to donate a book to the class for the book corner, then it would be greatly appreciated. They can also come to school in their own clothes on their birthday or on the nearest school day if their birthday falls at the weekend.
If you have any particular talents you wish to share with us or if you would like to come in and help with reading then please contact the school office or Mrs Ralston. All volunteers need to hold an up to date DBS certificate in order to be able to help in school.
Check back here regularly to see photos of what we have been up to.
