PE days are Wednesdays & Thursdays. Please ensure that your child has their full PE kit in school. All kits should be clearly labelled.
Homework is set every Wednesday and due in the following Tuesday. Our weekly spellings tests are on Thursdays.
Pencil cases should contain: HB pencils, black handwriting pens, a pencil sharpener, a short ruler, an eraser and a whiteboard pen. Children may want to bring in a Pritt stick, highlighter and colouring pencils. Pencil cases should be small enough to fit comfortably in a child’s tray.
Children require a waterproof coat with a hood every day. They may also bring in welly boots.
Water bottles should be clearly labelled. They should come in clean on Monday and be taken home every Friday.
All school uniform must be clearly labelled.
BOYS: grey trousers or shorts, blue polo shirt, maroon sweatshirt or jumper, grey or black socks & school shoes.
GIRLS: Grey pinafore, skirt or trousers, blue polo shirt; maroon cardigan or sweatshirt, white socks or grey tights blue/white check summer dress & shoe shoes.
No jewellery, Fitbits or Smart watches. Stud earrings may be worn but need to be removed or covered for PE lessons.
Children with long hair should have their hair tied back.
Reading, reading… and a little more reading!
We cannot emphasise the importance of regular reading enough! Comprehension supports learning across the curriculum; therefore, we encourage children to read every night. In Year 6 it is helpful for children to read a wide variety of texts to support the expansion of their vocabularies as comprehension tasks become increasingly complex.
In terms of fiction, this is a fantastic (but by no means exhaustive!) list of recommendations:
I particularly like Cogheart, The Girl of Ink and Stars and The Borrowers.
Our class library is slowly building; birthday book donations are always welcome!
